  6. 1 c Butter or margarine

  7. 1 c Sugar

  8. 1 c Molasses

  9. 3 Eggs

  10. 4 c All-purpose flour

  11. 1 ts Baking soda

  12. 1 ts Salt

  13. 1 c Milk

  14. Chunky-style applesauce

  15. -(two 16 1/2-ounce jars)

  16. Whipped cream

  17. Chopped nuts

  18. Cream together butter and sugar till light. Stir in molasses; add eggs, one

  19. at a time, beating after each. Stir together flour, soda, and salt; add to

  20. creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition. Grease

  21. 8 x 1 1/2-inch round baking pans. Pour

  22. 1 1/3 cups batter

  23. into each pan. (Refrigerate remaining batter.) Bake at 375 till done, about 15 minutes. Cool

  24. 5 minutes; remove from pans and cool on rack. Wash pans;

  25. grease and flour. Repeat with remaining batter. Spread applesauce between

  26. layers. Spread whipped cream atop; sprinkle with nuts. --
