  1. 2 cups 125g / 4.4oz Onion; chopped

  2. 1/4 cup 49g / 1.7oz Shortening

  3. 3 Green bell peppers; chopped

  4. 3 tablespoons 45ml Tomato paste

  5. 1 lb 454g / 16oz Beef cubes; 1-inch cubes

  6. 1 Red pepper

  7. 1 teaspoon 5ml Paprika

  8. 2 Garlic cloves; minced

  9. 6 cups 1422ml Beef broth;

  10. 1 tablespoon 15ml Lemon juice

  11. 1/4 teaspoon 1 1/3ml Caraway seeds

  1. * Beef Broth can be either canned or home made (home made is preferred.)

  2. Fry onions in hot fat until transparent. Add green peppers and tomato paste. Cover and simmer 10 minutes. Add lean beef cubes and remaining ingredients.

  3. Simmer about 1 1/2 hours, until meat is tender. (Add cubed potatoes if you like and simmer until potatoes are done.) Best when reheated and served the second day.
