  7. 6 Thin slices of lean beef,

  8. 4 Rashers of bacon,

  9. 3 Hard-boiled eggs

  10. 1/2 ts Finely chopped parsley

  11. 1/4 ts Dried parsley

  12. Finely grated lemon peel

  13. Salt & pepper

  14. Puff paste

  15. Flour

  16. Parakeets are a small, long-tailed tropical parrot.

  17. Method: Prepare the birds, and truss them like a quail

  18. or any other small bird. Line a pie-dish with the

  19. beef, over it place 6 of the paraquets, intersperse

  20. slices of egg, parsley and lemon-rind, dredge lightly

  21. with flour, and season with salt and pepper. Cover

  22. with the bacon cut into strips, lay the rest of the

  23. birds on the top, intersperse slices of egg, season

  24. with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with parsley and lemon-rind as before; three-quarter fill the dish with

  25. cold water, cover with puff-paste, and bake in a quick

  26. oven.

  27. 2-1/2 hours. SUFFICIENT for about persons.
