  1. 2 1/4 lbs 1021g / 36oz Boneless pork butt

  2. 3 Green onions - slivered

  3. 1 teaspoon 5ml Fresh ginger root - julienne

  4. 2 Star anise

  5. 2 tablespoons 30ml Mein see - seenote

  6. 2 tablespoons 30ml Soy sauce - light

  7. 2 teaspoons 10ml Brown sugar

  8. 1 cup 237ml Chinese rice wine - or dry sherry

  9. 2 Garlic cloves - sliced thin

  10. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml White pepper - freshly-ground or to taste

  11. 2 cups 474ml Water - more may be needed

  1. Recipe Instructions * Note: Soybean condiment available in Asian markets. Mix together all the ingredients except the pork. Place the meat in an ovenproof casserole just large enough to hold it. A crockpot may be used. Pour the sauce over the top, cover the dish and bake at 275 degrees from 5 to 8 hours, depending on your taste.
