  1. 3/4 c Sifted all-purpose flour

  2. 1/2 ts Soda

  3. 1/2 ts Salt

  4. 1/2 c Granulated sugar

  5. 1/2 c Brown sugar, firmly packed

  6. 1/2 c Shortening; soft

  7. 1 Egg

  8. 1 1/2 c Quaker Oats, uncooked

  9. -- (quick or old-fashioned) 1/4 c Chopped nutmeats

  10. 2 minutes. Stir in oats and nutmeats. Shape dough to form roll; warp in waxed paper and chill several hours or overnight. Cut into 1/4-inch slices. Place on ungreased cooky sheets. Bake in preheated moderate oven (350 F.)
