  9. Sauce

  10. 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening

  11. 1 cup sugar

  12. 1 egg

  13. 1 teaspoon flour

  14. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  15. 1 1/2 cups boiling water

  1. For pudding.

  2. Cream vegetable shortening and sugar together, add egg well beaten, milk, vanilla, flour, baking powder, salt, and raisins.

  3. Mix well, turn into greased mold, and bake twenty-five minutes in moderate oven.

  4. Turn out and serve with sauce.

  5. This pudding may be steamed for one and a half hours.

  6. For sauce.

  7. Mix flour, sugar, and vegetable shortening in small saucepan, then stir in egg and boiling water and boil for three minutes.

  8. Flavor with the vanilla.
