  1. Using white fondant, and orange, yellow and brown food color, color some fondant orange, some yellow and some brown. Roll your favorite sugar cookie dough on a floured surface to 1⁄8 to 1⁄4 in. thick. Cut into shapes using owl and pumpkin cookie cutters. Bake as directed. While cookies bake, roll out colored fondant to 1⁄8 to 1⁄4 in. thick. Cut out shapes using owl, pumpkin and mini-flower cookie cutters. Place fondant shapes on cookies as shown while they are still warm (the fondant will stick better). Cool completely. Decorate pumpkins using black food writing pen. To decorate owls, make royal icing using meringue powder. To make beaks, form Starburst candies into beak shapes with fingers. Attach beaks with royal icing. Using royal icing, attach assorted colors M&M’s or Reese’s Pieces for feet and eyes. Let stand until set. Place cookies in cellophane bags with candy and tie bags with colorful ribbon.
