  7. 1/2 c Shortening

  8. ds -salt

  9. 2 1/2 c Flour

  10. 1/2 c Milk

  11. --FILLING--

  12. 1 c -Water

  13. 1/2 c Butter

  14. 1/8 c Lemon juice

  15. 1/2 tb Cinnamon

  16. 1 ts Ground cloves

  17. 2 tb Cornstarch

  18. 1/3 c Sugar

  19. 6 Cortland apples; up to

  20. -can use Macs as well;

  21. -peeled and cored

  22. CRUST: Make dough by mixing butter, shortening and salt together until

  23. soft. When it starts to congeal, add milk. Mix until it is incorporated.

  24. Pie dough will be soft. It makes 1 double pie crust. Preheat oven to

  25. 350 degrees now.

  26. FILLING: Put the liquid ingredients into a pan and add the contents of the

  27. mix dry ingredients. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add the sliced

  28. peeled apples. Let cool. When cool, place inside prepared pie shell. Cover

  29. pie with the top crust. make slashes so that the steam can escape. Bake at

  30. 350 degrees until done, approximately one hour.

  31. NOTE: This is a very famous restaurant in the Boston area. I have never

  32. made an apple pie by cooking or almost cooking the apples first. This

  33. sounds very interesting and a bit different. Am anxious to try the crust as

  34. well.
