  1. 2 c Flour

  2. 1 c Brown sugar

  3. 1 c Walnuts; chopped

  4. 1/3 c Candied orange peel; chopped

  5. 1/8 ts Nutmeg

  6. 1/8 ts Cinnamon

  7. 1/8 ts Ground cloves

  8. 1/2 ts Anise seed

  9. 1/2 c Hot water

  1. * Nut cakes of Italy. Cook the sugar and water together until the syrup spins a thread. Remove from heat and add the nuts, spices and orange peel. Add the flour and knead into a smooth dough. Roll thin, cut into small squares or round shapes and bake at 350 until light brown, 8-12 minutes. --
