  2. 1 1/2 C firmly packed brown sugar

  3. 1 C creamy or chunky peanut butter

  4. 3/4 C margarine

  5. 1/3 C water

  6. 1/4 C better'n eggs or 1 egg

  7. 1 t vanilla

  8. 3 C quaker oats

  9. 1 1/2 C flour

  10. 1/2 t baking soda

  11. 1 1/2 C semi-sweet chocolate pieces

  12. 4 t vegetable shortening

  13. 1/3 C chopped peanuts

  1. Oven at 350 degrees.

  2. Beat brown sugar, peanut butter and margarine until fluffy.

  3. Blend in water, egg substitute and vanilla.

  4. Add combined oats, flour and baking soda. Mix well.

  5. Cover and chill 1 hour. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookiesheet.

  6. Using bottom of a glass dipped into sugar, press into 1/4 inch thickcircles.

  7. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.

  8. Remove to wire rack to cool.

  9. Melt chocolate pieces in a double boiler, stir in vegetable shorteningmixinguntil smooth. Top each cookie with 1/2 t. of melted chocolate. Sprinkle withchopped peanuts.
