  1. 1 cup sugar

  2. 3 eggs

  3. 1 cup milk

  4. 2 teaspoons powdered cinnamon

  5. 3 cups flour

  6. 1/2 cup vegetable shortening

  7. 3 teaspoons baking powder

  8. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  9. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  10. 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg

  11. 1 cup shredded figs

  1. Instructions Wash and dry figs then shred them. Cream vegetable shortening and sugar together, add eggs well beaten, and beat five minutes. Sift dry ingredients, and add to first mixture alternately with milk. Add figs and flavorings and turn into vegetable shorteninged and floured cake tin. Bake one hour in moderate oven. Sufficient for one small cake.
