  2. Salsa:

  3. 1 small red onion, peeled and diced

  4. 3 cups water

  5. 1 pound tomatoes, diced

  6. 3 tbsp. fresh lime juice

  7. 3 tbsp. finely chopped fresh cilantro leaves

  8. 1 tbsp. canned jalapeno peppers, seeded and minced

  9. 1 tbsp. olive oil

  10. 1/4 tsp. salt

  11. Steaks:

  12. 2 T-bone steaks, about 1 1/2 inches thick

  13. 1/8 tsp. salt

  14. 1/4 tsp. pepper

  1. For Salsa:

  2. Place onion in a small bowl with water to cover. Let stand 1 hour. Drain thoroughly. Transfer onion to a medium bowl. Add tomatoes, lime juice, cilantro, jalapenos, oil and salt. Stir well. Cover and refrigerate while preparing steaks.

  3. For Steaks:

  4. Preheat grill or broiler. Season steaks with salt and pepper. Cook steaks about 6 to 7 minutes per side for medium-rare. Transfer steaks to plates. Drain salsa and spoon over steaks. Serve immediately.
