  2. GRANNY FEARING'S KENTUCKY BAKED BEANS

  5. 21 oz Can pork and beans

  6. 1 lg Onion -- finely chopped

  7. 12 oz Heinz ketchup

  8. 1 tb Yellow mustard

  9. 1 1/8 c Light brown sugar -- packed

  10. 1/8 c Molasses

  11. 1/8 c Heinz sweet gherkin pickle

  12. Juice

  13. 1 t Apple cider vinegar

  14. Salt -- to taste

  15. Ground black pepper -- to

  16. Taste 1/2 lb Smoked bacon -- thickly

  17. Sliced Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  18. Combine pork and beans, onion, ketchup, mustard, brown

  19. sugar, molasses, gherkin juice, vinegar, salt, and pepper to taste in a 2-quart casserole. Top with

  20. strips of bacon in a crisscross pattern. Cover with

  21. 350 degree oven for 1/2 hours. Remove foil for last

  22. 30 minutes of baking.

  23. Serve hot or cold. Beans may be prepared up to one day ahead and refrigerated. Warm in 350 degree oven for no more

  24. than 20 minutes.
