  6. 2 tb Margarine or butter

  7. 1/2 c Chopped celery

  8. 1/2 c Chopped onion

  9. 1 t Dried thyme leaves,

  10. 1 t Dried sage leaves,

  11. -crushed*

  12. 1/8 ts Pepper

  13. 4 oz Can mushroom stems and -pieces, drained

  14. 14 oz Pkg. unseasoned whole wheat

  15. -and white dry bread cubes

  16. 1/4 c Water

  17. 14 L/2-oz l/3-less-salt

  18. -chicken broth (not

  19. -condensed)

  20. Use a combination of whole wheat and white bread for added flavor, texture and fiber

  21. Heat oven to 325C

  22. Melt margarine in large saucepan

  23. over medium heat. Add celery and onion; cook and stir

  24. until tender. Stir in thyme, sage, pepper and mushrooms. Add bread cubes; mix well. Gradually pour

  25. water and broth over bread mixture; toss to moisten

  26. evenly. Spoon stuffing mixture into ungreased 2-quart

  27. casserole; cover

  28. 325!F. for 45 to 50 minutes or until

  29. thoroughly heated.10 (3/4-Cup) servings.

  30. TiP:One and one-half teaspoons poultry seasoning

  31. can be substituted for the thyme and sage.
