  1. 2 lbs. Boneless stew meat

  2. 2 Tbsp. Shortening

  3. 6 to 8 large carrot s, peeled and cut into quarter size slices

  4. 6 medium potato es peeled and quartered

  5. 1 large onion , quartered

  6. 1 cup of water

  7. Salt & pepper to taste

  8. 1/4 tsp. oregano

  9. tsp. Rosemary

  10. tsp. Thyme

  11. 1 bay leaf

  1. Brown the stew meat in a skillet in the shortening until nicely browned. Place in the bottom of a deep pot. Place in the carrots, onion, potatoes, sprinkle with spices, salt & pepper. Add water. Cook 1 to 1½ hours over med heat until tender. Keep covered with water at all times.
