  1. 1 (8 1/2-ounce) box corn bread mix (recommended: Jiffy)

  2. 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  3. 1/4 cups milk

  4. 1 egg

  5. 1/4 cup frozen chopped onions, thawed

  6. 1 Fuji apple , grated

  7. 1/4 pound smoked ham, diced

  8. 1 cup cream cheese , room temperature

  9. 1/4 orange juice

  10. 1/4 cup whole cranberry sauce

  11. 1/4 cup fig preserves

  12. 1/4 cup orange juice

  13. 1 cup sour cream

  14. 1 pinch salt

  1. For Fritters Heat oil in a Dutch oven or deep-fryer until it reaches 350 degree F. In a large bowl add the cornbread mix, garlic powder, milk, egg and onions. Mix well to combine. Add apple and ham and stir to combine. Using a tablespoon or small scoop, carefully slide tablespoon size amounts of the fritter batter into the hot oil. Fry about 6 at a time. Fry for approximately 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from oil and drain on paper towel lined baking tray. Serve alongside dipping sauces. For Cranberry Mustard Dipping Sauce: Combined all ingredients into a small bowl and mix well. For Creamy Fig Sauce: Combined all ingredients into a small bowl and mix well.
