  1. 1 onion

  2. Sunflower/olive oil

  3. 1 pack minced beef

  4. Mixed herbs, pinch or 2 of chilli, salt & ground black pepper (whatever youve got really but lots of herbs & ground black pepper)

  5. 1 or 2 tins of chopped tomatoes

  6. 2 or 3 oxo cubes (or gravy granules)

  7. 2 medium sized carrots

  8. Frozen peas (equal amount of peas as there is carrot)

  9. 4 medium potatoes

  10. Grated cheddar cheese

  1. Peel and chop potatoes and carrots, put carrots and peas in one pan with a bit of sugar, potatoes in another with butter/salt, stir occasionally throughout

  2. Chop onion and fry in a large frying pan until browned

  3. Add mince meat, stir until browned

  4. Remove from heat and add herbs and spices etc, stir well

  5. Put back on heat, add tinned tomatoes and oxo / gravy granules, you can leave this mixture until the veg is ready (doesn't matter if it cools)

  6. When carrots and peas are ready, add them to mince mixture, transfer to oven dish

  7. When potatoes are ready, mash with lots of butter and cheese and spread over top of mince (don't forget to save some cheese to sprinkle over the top)

  8. Put in oven, about gas mark 7/220`c for about 15-20 mins its ready when the cheese has gone golden and crispy
