  4. 2 cups bread crumbs

  5. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  6. 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  7. 1/4 teaspoon sage

  8. 1 small bay leaf

  9. 1/2 cup boiling water

  1. Melt fat in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in onion and bread.

  2. Stir over low heat until crumbs begin to brown, then add seasonings and boiling water.

  3. Let mixture cool off before using it to stuff chicken, turkey, or game.
