  1. 6 bread slices

  2. 2 tsp melted butter

  3. For the filling

  4. 2 tsp butter

  5. 2 tsp plain flour (maida)

  6. 1/2 cup milk

  7. 1/2 cup boiled sweet corn (makai ke dane)

  8. salt to taste

  9. black pepper (kalimirch) powder to taste

  10. For baking

  11. 2 tbsp grated processed cheese

  1. Lightly grease a muffin tray or 6 tart moulds and keep aside.

  2. Remove the crusts from the bread slices.

  3. Flatten each slice using a rolling pin.

  4. Press each slice of the flattened bread into the greased muffin tray or in the tart moulds.

  5. Brush the bread tartlets with melted butter.

  6. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 150°C (300°F) for 5 to 7 minutes.

  7. Heat the butter in a saucepan, add the flour and cook on a slow flame for 2 minutes, while stirring throughout.

  8. Gradually, add the milk while stirring continuously so that no lumps. Bring it to a boil.

  9. Remove from the fire, add the cheese, corn, salt and pepper and mix well.

  10. Spoon the filling mixture into the baked bread tartlets.

  11. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°C (360°F) for 3 to 4 minutes.

  12. Serve hot.
