  1. 3 sm. sweet potatoes

  2. 1 c. milk

  3. 1 c. sugar

  4. 1 unbaked pie shell

  5. 1/4 lb. butter

  6. 1/2 tsp. allspice

  7. Salt

  1. Peel and grate sweet potatoes. Melt butter and add to other ingredients. Stir into sweet potatoes. Pour into pie shell. Bake 10 minutes at 425 degrees, then for 50 minutes at 325 degrees or until custard is set in middle. Cool on rack to prevent soggy crust.

  2. Change: Sprinkle top lightly with a mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon and melted butter before baking, if desired.
