  3. 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  4. 2 tablespoons Equal Spoonful

  9. Mile High Apple Pie:

  10. 3 tablespoons cornstarch

  11. 1 cup Equal Spoonful

  12. 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  13. 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  14. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  15. 8 cups sliced -- cored, peeled

  16. Granny Smith or other baking apples

  17. -- (about 8 medium apples)

  1. -Combine flour, Equal Spoonful and salt in medium bowl; cut in butter withpastry blender until mixture resembles course crumbs. Mix in water, 1tablespoon at a time, stirring lightly with fork after each addition untildough is formed. Wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.

  2. Makes pastry for 9' pie Mile High Apple Pie:

  3. cups sliced, cored, peeled Granny Smith or other baking apples(about 8 medium sized apples)

  4. -Roll half the pastry on floured surface into circle 1" larger thaninverted 9" pie pan. Ease pastry into pan.

  5. -Combine cornstarch, Equal Spoonful, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt; sprinkleover apples in large bowl and toss. Arrange apple mixture in pie crust.

  6. -Roll remaining pastry into circle large enough to fit top of pie. Cut outhearts from pastry with cookie cutters. Place remaining pastry on pie;

  7. seal edges, trim and flute. Press heart cut-outs on pastry. Bake inpreheated 425° F oven until pastry is golden and apples are tender, 40 to50 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
