  1. 1 package(s) devil's food or chocolate cake mix for 2-layer cake

  2. 3/4 cup(s) (1 1/2 sticks) margarine or butter , softened

  3. 2 large eggs

  4. 1 package(s) (12-ounce) semisweet-chocolate chunks or semisweet-chocolate pieces

  5. 1 can(s) (8-ounce) walnuts , (2 cups), coarsely chopped 1 cup(s) flaked or shredded coconut

  6. 1/2 cup(s) old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats , uncooked

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In large bowl, with mixer at low speed, beat about half of devil's food cake mix with margarine or butter and eggs until blended. Increase speed to high; beat until smooth, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula.

  2. With spoon, stir in chocolate chunks, walnuts, coconut, oats, and remaining cake mix until blended.

  3. Spoon dough by rounded tablespoons, about 1 1/2 inches apart, onto ungreased large cookie sheets. Bake 15 minutes or until cookies are set. Remove cookies to wire racks to cool. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.
