  1. Oriental-style Cold Green Beans or Asparagus

  2. 1/2 to 1 pound green beans (or asparagus)

  3. 1/4 cup diced pimientos or roasted red bell pepper

  4. 1/4 cup soy sauce

  5. 1 t to

  6. 1 T toasted sesame oil (depending on your preferences)

  8. 3" lengths. Blanch until barely

  9. tender and bright green. (The way we do it is to place them in a

  10. frying pan with enough cold water to cover/float. Place over high

  11. heat, and bring to boiling point. Remove from the heat and let

  12. sit until the water has cooled.) If you're blanching using the

  13. traditional dunk-into-boiling-water method, plunge into cold water

  14. to stop the cooking. Combine with the pimientos. Combine soy sauce

  15. and sesame oil and drizzle over vegetables. Serve chilled.
