  1. 1 cup rice

  1. Combine rice, water and salt in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil, then cover, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 20 minutes, until rice is tender. Remove pot from heat and let stand 10 minutes longer to steam.
