  1. 450g/1lb of minced beef

  2. 1 onion

  3. 1 vegetable stock cube

  4. 1 tin of chopped tomatoes

  5. 3-4 medium sized potatoes

  6. Salt and pepper to season

  1. Preheat oven to 200ºC/380F/gas 6.

  2. Fry mince until brown and put in a casserole dish.

  3. Chop the onion and add to the mince.

  4. Dilute the stock cube with 300ml water and add to the mince and onions.

  5. Dissolve 3tsp of gravy granules with 200ml water and add to the mince and onions. If you want you can add some peas and chopped carrot.

  6. Drain the tomatoes and add to the mince with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Cover with a lid or foil and put in the oven for 1 ½hrs, stirring half way through.

  8. Peel and cut 3-4 medium sized potatoes into cubes. Put in a large pan, add salt and boil for 20 mins.

  9. Drain the potatoes, add a splash of milk and a knob of butter, mash to your taste.

  10. Once mince is cooked and cooled, add mash on top and put back in the oven for 5 mins to brown.
