  7. 1 1/4 c Unsifted flour

  8. 2 tb Sugar

  9. 1 t Baking soda

  10. 3/4 ts Baking powder

  11. 1/4 ts Salt

  12. 1 Egg

  13. 3/4 c Milk

  15. (You need a metal funnel to make these delicious

  16. Pennsylvania Dutch specialties. )

  17. about 1 quart - Corn oil Confectioners sugar

  18. Stir together first 5 ingredients. Mix egg and milk;

  19. add to flour mixture. Stir until batter is smooth.

  20. 1/3 full

  21. 375 degrees. An electric fry pan is excellent for this. Holding forefinger over end of funnel, pour 1/4

  22. cup into funnel. Place over hot oil and remove finger

  23. to let batter flow. As batter flows, move funnel in a

  24. circle to form a spiral cake. Fry, turning once, 2

  25. minutes or until golden brown. Drain and sprinkle with

  26. sugar. Repeat. Makes enough for 6 funnel cakes.

  27. Note: instead of the sugar, try drizzling with a thin

  28. icing and sprinkle with chopped nuts. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
