  1. 6 c. water , divided

  2. 1 c. carrot , sliced

  3. 1 1/2 c. onion s, chopped

  4. 1 T. brown sugar

  5. 1/2 t. thyme

  6. 3 cloves garlic , crushed

  7. 28-oz. can chopped tomato es

  8. 1 celery , sliced

  9. 1 c. dried lentil s

  10. 1/2 t. basil

  11. 3 13- 3/4 oz. cans chicken broth

  12. 1/2 t. oregano

  13. 1/2 t. pepper

  14. 1 bay leaf

  15. 6-oz. can tomato paste

  16. 9-oz pkg. frozen green bean s, thawed

  17. 1/4 c. while wine vinegar

  18. 1 c. star pasta , uncooked

  19. Romano cheese

  1. Combine all ingredients except 2 cups of water, vinegar and macaroni in a large stock pot and bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat to simmer for 45 minutes. Add reserved water, vinegar and macaroni and cook for 8 minutes. Remove bay leaf and serve topped with Romano cheese.
