  1. 1 tbsp. yeast

  2. 1/4 c. warm water

  3. 2 tsp. sugar

  4. 2 tbsp. vegetable shortening

  5. 2 lg. shredded wheat biscuits

  6. 1 c. boiling water

  7. 1 c. molasses

  8. 1 c. milk

  9. 1 tsp. salt

  10. 5 1/2 c. flour

  1. Proof yeast in warm water with sugar. In a large bowl put the shortening and shredded wheat. Pour boiling water over and allow to soften. Add molasses, milk, salt and 5 1/2 cups flour or more until dough no longer sticks to hands when kneaded. Put in 2 large loaf pans. Let rise once. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
