  1. 1 cup Butter or margarine

  2. 3/4 cup Sugar

  3. 1 Egg

  4. 2 tablespoons Cocoa

  5. 2 teaspoons Vanilla flavoring

  6. 1 3/4 cup Sifted flour

  7. 1/4 teaspoon Baking powder

  8. 1 Egg white, stiffly beaten

  9. 1/4 cup Nuts, chopped

  10. 3 tablespoons Sugar

  1. Cream margarine and sugar together. Mix egg, cocoa, vanilla flavoring in with above mixture. Sift flour and baking powder together and add to creamed mixture. Blend well. Add egg white, stiffly beaten. Mix together nuts and 3 tablespoons sugar. Spread batter on greased cookie sheets so you have long strips two inches wide and ¼ inch thick; leave about 3 inches between strips. Brush with egg whites and sprinkle with nuts and sugar. Bake at 350 degrees 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on cookie sheets. After 2 minutes, cut into bars 1 inch wide. Do not remove from sheet until cool and crisp. Submitted By BARRY WEINSTEIN On 03-16-95
