  1. 1/2 c Softened Butter

  2. 1/2 c Sugar

  3. 1 tb Vanilla Extract

  4. 1/8 ts Salt

  5. 5 oz Whole Macadamia Nuts

  6. 1/4 c Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips

  7. 1 ts Shortening

  8. 1 lg Egg

  9. 1 1/2 c All Purpose Flour

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.

  2. In a large mixer bowl at low speed, beat butter and sugar until blended.

  3. Increase speed to medium-high, beat until fluffy.

  4. Beat in egg and vanilla.

  5. Beat in flour and salt.

  6. Shape 1 ts of dough around each Macadamia nut.

  7. Place on ungreased baking sheets.

  8. Bake for 10 to 13 minutes or until golden around base of each cookie.

  9. Cool on wire racks.

  10. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate chips and shortening.

  11. Drizzle over cookies.

  12. Store in a tightly covered container.

  13. Yields 5-1/2 dozen.
