  1. 1/2c Sugar

  2. 1/2ts Salt

  3. 1 1/2ts Baking powder

  4. 1 tb Sugar

  5. 1 c All-purpose flour*

  6. 3 tb Shortening

  7. 1 ts Lemon juice

  8. 4 c Blueberries

  9. 1 tb Cornstarch

  10. 1/2c Milk

  1. + Directions : *if using self-rising flour omit Baking powder and salt. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and the cornstarch in 2-quart saucepan. Stir in blueberries and lemon juice. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute. Pour into ungreased 2-quart casserole; keep blueberry mixture hot in oven. Cut shortening into flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, the baking powder and salt until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in milk. Drop dough by 6 spoonfuls onto hot blueberry mixture. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown. Serve warm and, if desired, with Sweetened Whipped Cream.
