  1. 8 medium tart apples -- peeled and -- quartered

  2. 1 cup water

  3. 1 cup sugar

  4. 1 1/4 cups red-hot candies

  1. Preparation : Place apples and water in a 5-qt. sauce- pan. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 20 minutes or until tender. Mash the apples. Add sugar and candies. Cook, uncovered, until sugar and can- dies are dissolved. Remove from the heat; cool. Refrigerate until serving.
