  7. 1/2 pk Devil's food cake mix

  8. 1/2 c Rum

  9. 1 21 oz Can cherry pie filling

  11. CUSTARD--

  12. 2/3 c Sugar

  13. 1/4 c Cocoa

  14. 1/8 t Salt

  15. 3 Eggs, beaten

  16. 2 c Milk

  17. 1 Toppings

  18. 1 c Whipping cream

  19. 2 tb Powdered sugar

  20. 1/4 c Sliced almonds, toasted

  21. Prepare cake mix according to package directions; cut into 1/2 inch slices.

  22. Line bottom of 2 quart bowl of trifle dish with half of cake slices;

  23. sprinkle with 2-4 tbsp. rum. Spoon half of cherry pie filling over cake;

  24. top with half of choclate pudding. Repeat procedure with remaining cake,

  25. rum, pie filling and custard. Cover and chill. Beat whipping cream until

  26. foamy; gradually add powdered sugar, beating until soft peaks form. Spread

  27. over custard; garnish with almonds. CHOCOLATE CUSTARD: Combine first 3

  28. ingredients in top of double boiler. Combine eggs and milk, gradually stir

  29. into dry mixture. Bring water in double boiler to a boil, reduce heat to

  30. low and cook custard, stirring constantly until thick. Cool. Dessert yields
