  1. 1 cup soft shortening

  2. 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  3. 2 eggs

  4. 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

  5. 2 teaspoons cream of tarter

  6. 1 teaspoon baking soda

  7. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  8. 1 teaspoon vanilla

  1. Sift together dry ingredients. Mix the shortening, sugear and eggs thouroughly and stir in dry ingredients. Chill dough. Roll into balls the size of a small walnut. Roll each ball in a mixture of 2 Tbsp granulated sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon. Place about 2″ apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until lightly browned but still soft, about 8-10 minutes, in a 400F oven.

  2. I sometimes roll the cookie balls in colored sugar and cinnamon.
