  2. 30 slices white bread

  3. 2 tablespoons butter

  4. 1 large onion

  5. 2 stalks celery

  6. 2 eggs

  7. 2 cups chicken broth

  8. 2 teaspoons rubbed sage

  9. 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  10. Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Toast the bread and let it sit for at least 24 hours so it becomes hard.

  2. Lightly chop the onion and celery.

  3. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  4. Crush the bread into crumbs with a rolling pin. Place the crumbs in a large bowl.

  5. Melt the butter in a pan.

  6. Stir in the vegetables and slowly cook until soft.

  7. Remove from heat and drain.

  8. Lightly beat the eggs and add them, along with the broth, into the bread crumbs. Add some small amounts of water to attain desired consistency.

  9. Mix in the vegetables and seasonings.

  10. Spoon the mixture into a baking dish. Bake for 1 hour or until the top is crisp. .
