  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a bowl, combine the cheese, flour and sugar. With your fingertips, rub in the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Peel, core and slice the apples. Place in a pastry-lined pie pan and sprinkle cheese mixture on top. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake 30 to 35 minutes more, or until apples are tender and top is brown and fragrant. Makes one 9 inch pie. Quick Microwave Method: Prepare as above in microwave-safe plate. Cook pie on high (100%) for 15 minutes in a 600 to 700 watt microwave oven. Bake pie for an additional 15 minutes in a 425 degree oven, or until top is browned.
