  1. In large pot, combine potatoes and squash; cover with salted water by 1 inch Bring to boil; reduce heat, and simmer until easily pierced. (20 minutes)

  2. Drain in colander; return to the por. Stir over medium heat until dry; 2-3 minutes.

  3. In small saucepan melt butter over medium add garlic, cook about 2 minutes. Add half and half bring to a simmer. Pour over potatoes and squash; season generously with salt and pepper. Mash with potato masher until smooth and creamy.
