  2. 2 medium tomatoes -- halved crosswise

  3. 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

  4. 4 tablespoons bread crumbs

  5. 4 basil leaves -- shredded

  6. 1 teaspoon fresh thyme -- oregano or - rosemary -- (or 1/4 tsp dried)

  7. 2 teaspoons grated parmesan cheese

  8. 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

  9. freshly ground black pepper

  1. Brush half of oil over sides and bottoms of tomatoes. Brush tops with mustard.

  2. Combine cheese, bread crumbs, herbs; sprinkle on top of tomatoes. Drizzle on rest of oil to dampen bread-crumb topping. Add pepper. Put tomatoes on grill, cut side up; cover.

  3. Grill until skin shrinks from top of tomatoes and tomatoes are soft but not mushy -- 10-20 minutes, depending on heat of grill. (Alternate methods: Bake in preheated 450-degree oven 15-20 minutes. Or grill 5-10 minutes.)
