    1. 2 cups white sugar

    2. 1 cup shortening

    3. 4 eggs

    4. 4 cups all-purpose flour

    5. 2 teaspoons baking powder

    6. 1 teaspoon baking soda

    7. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    8. 1 cup buttermilk

    9. 1/2 cup butter -- melted

    10. 2 cups confectioners' sugar milk

    11. 3 drops food coloring

    1. Preparation : 1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).

    2. Combine 2 cups white sugar, shortening, and eggs. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and baking soda.

    3. Mix dry ingredients into egg mixture. Stir well. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla.

    4. Drop by teaspoon ( I use regular coffeespoon) onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes until light brown.

    5. To Make Frosting: Melt 1/2 cup butter and combine with 2 cups powdered sugar and add milk until frosting reaches desired consistency. Mix in food coloring (optional). Mix together and spread onto cookies.
