  1. 1 pkg. dry yeast

  2. 1 tbsp. sugar

  3. 1/2 c. lukewarm water

  4. 1 egg, beaten

  5. 1 1/2 tsp. salt

  6. 1/2 c. cooking oil

  7. 1/2 c. sugar

  8. 1 c. water

  9. 1 c. sour dough starter

  10. 7 c. flour (approx.)

  1. Mix first 3 ingredients and let stand 15 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and knead about 5 minutes until elastic. Place in large greased bowl, cover with waxed paper and let rise until doubled in size. Punch down and let rise again. Punch down, divide and place in 3 greased loaf pans. Let rise, bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Dough can be used for rolls if desired.

  2. Wheat bread can be made by using 2 cups wheat flour and the rest white flour. A nutty tasting bread can be achieved by adding 1 cup unsalted, raw sunflower seeds to the dough in the first step above.
