  1. 1 (1/4-ounce) package active dry yeast or 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

  2. 1/4 cup warm water

  3. 1/4 cup vegetable shortening

  4. 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  5. 1 large egg

  6. 1 cup warm water

  7. 1 teaspoon salt

  8. 4 cups all-purpose or bread flour

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water; set aside. Cream together margarine and sugar in a large bowl. Add egg and mix well. Add the yeast mixture and flour; stir until well mixed. Spoon into a greased muffin tin and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes.
