  10. 2 Bay leaves

  11. 2 ts Ground cumin

  12. 3 tb Chili powder

  13. 3 c Crushed tomatoes

  14. 1 c Beef stock

  15. 1 c Water

  16. Red pepper flakes

  17. Fresh ground black pepper -- t

  18. Salt -- to taste

  19. 2 c Kidney beans, cooked

  20. Garnishes:

  21. Monterey jack cheese -- shred

  22. Shredded lettuce

  23. Chopped red onion

  24. Chopped coriander

  25. Sour cream

  26. Lime wedges

  1. Heat oil in heavy Dutch oven; add beef and pork; cooking andbreaking up until lightly browned; add onions, green pepper and celery;

  2. sweat 2 minutes; add other ingredients except beans, mixing well; bring toa boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 minutes; discard bay leaves; addbeans, mix well and simmer another 10 minutes; ladle into warm soup bowlsand serve with warm tortillas, tortilla chips or crackers; pass garnishesseparately.
