  1. 1/2 lb dou bao/tofu package

  2. 1/2 lb carrot

  3. Cornflour/tapioca for dusting

  4. 2 cups oil

  5. Seasoning

  6. 1/4 tsp 5-spice powder

  7. 1 tbsp milk powder

  8. 1 tsp rice wine

  9. 1/2 tsp salt

  10. 1 tsp sugar

  11. 1 tsp soaya sauce

  12. 5 tbsp cornflour/tapioca flour

  13. 1 tbsp sesame oil

  14. Sauce

  15. 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  16. 1 tbsp tomato sauce

  17. 1 tbsp sugar

  18. 1/2 tsp sesame oil

  1. Marinate dou bao for at least 20 minutes.

  2. Cut carrot into 1/2 inch x 2 inches x 1 inch.

  3. Cut dou bao into 2 inches strips and wrap it around a piece of carrot. Secure with a toothpick.

  4. Heat oil until hot, dust each vegetarian sparerib with cornflour/tapioca flour and drop into hot oil.

  5. Fry until golden brown.

  6. Garnish with coriander and serve with sauce.
