  1. GINGERBREAD WITH LEMON SAUCE

  2. 9 to 12 servings.

  3. 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  4. 3/4 cup sugar

  5. 2 teaspoons ginger

  6. 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  7. 1 teaspoon baking soda

  8. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  9. 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

  10. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  11. 3/4 cup margarine, softened

  12. 3/4 cup water

  13. 1/2 cup molasses

  14. 350F. Grease

  15. 9x9x2-inch baking pan. In large bowl,

  16. combine flour, sugar, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder,

  17. cloves and salt. Stir in margarine, water and molasses until well

  18. 40 to 50 minutes or until tester

  19. inserted in center comes out clean. Cool slightly on wire rack.

  20. Serve warm with Lemon Sauce.

  21. LEMON SAUCE

  22. 1/3 cup sugar

  23. 2 tablespoons corn starch

  24. 1 1/2 cups water

  25. 3 tablespoons margarine

  26. 2 teaspoons grated lemon peel

  27. 2 teaspoons lemon juice

  28. In 2-quart saucepan combine sugar and corn starch. Gradually stir

  29. in water until smooth. Stirring constantly, bring to boil over

  30. medium heat and boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in margarind,

  31. lemon peel and lemon juice until well blended. Pour into serving

  32. bowl; cover with waxed paper or plastic wrap. Cool slightly.

  33. Serve warm on Gingerbread. Makes about 2 cups.
