  1. 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  2. 3/4 cup carrot , diced

  3. 1/2 cup onion , diced

  4. 2 garlic cloves , minced

  5. 2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans chicken broth

  6. 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder

  7. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  8. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  9. 1 1/4 cups long-grain rice , uncooked

  1. Heat oil in pan and add onion, carrot, and garlic; sauté until tender.

  2. Add broth, Chinese five-spice, salt and pepper, bring to a boil.

  3. Stir in rice and return to boil.

  4. Cover; reduce heat and cook 20 minutes.
