  1. Beat the 1/4 cup melted butter and the confectioners' sugar, salt, milk, lemon juice, and zest in a medium bowl using an electric mixer at medium-high. Beat in the additional 1/4 cup cold butter (in small pieces). Add food coloring, if desired. Use immediately or chill.
