  1. 8 ounces Ziti or Penne pasta

  2. 1/2 cups ricotta cheese

  3. 1 cup sour cream

  4. 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

  5. 1/2 teaspoon dried basil

  6. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  7. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  8. 1/2 pounds sweet Italian sausage , casings removed.

  9. 1 small onion , chopped (about 1 cup)

  10. 1 (14 to 16 oz) can tomato sauce

  11. 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded

  1. Preheat oven to 350° Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain thoroughly in a colander.

  2. In a Large bowl, combine pasta, ricotta, sour cream, thyme, basil, salt, and pepper.

  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook sausage and onion, stirring and breaking up sausage until meat is cooked through and no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Add tomato sauce. mix well.

  4. Spread half the pasta mixture in bottom of a 2-quart baking dish. top with half the sausage mixture. repeat layers top with mozzarella cheese.

  5. Bake casserole until heated through and cheese is bubbly, about 35 to 40 minutes.
