  1. 1/2 cup butter , softened

  2. 1 1/2 cups sugar

  3. 2 egg s

  4. 1 cup milk

  5. 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  6. 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder

  7. 1 tsp. salt

  8. 2 tsp. vanilla extract

  1. Preheat oven to 375°. Prepare pan(s), greasing well and lining with wax paper. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.

  2. Add flour and milk alternately, beating well after. Pour into prepared pan(s) and bake for time assigned for each type of pan.

  3. x9 pan - yields one - bake 35 minutes or until tests done 9" round pans - yields two - bake 25-30 minutes or until tests done 8" round pans - yields three - bake 20-25 minutes or until tests done Cupcakes - yields 30 - bake 18-23 minutes Use favorite chocolate frosting.
