  1. Date Balls

  2. 1 cup butter

  3. 1 cup sugar

  4. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  5. 1 lb. dates, pitted and chopped

  6. 1- 1/2 cup nuts, chopped fine

  7. 2 tablespoons rum

  8. 2 cups Rice Krispies

  9. Unsweetened shredded coconut

  10. Melt butter in a large saucepan. Add sugar, salt and dates. Cook

  11. over medium heat stirring constantly until nice and thick and smooth.

  12. Remove from heat. Add nuts, rum and Rice Krispies. Mix well.

  13. Allow to cool, just enough so that you can form little balls (the

  14. size of a walnut) with your hands. Roll into unsweetened coconut.
