  2. 1 pound fresh asparagus spears

  3. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  4. 3 tablespoond pine nuts

  5. 1/2 teaspoon dried whole basil

  6. 1/4 cup olive oil

  7. 1/2 teaspoon dried whole oregano

  8. 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  9. Pepper, freshly ground

  10. 1 clove garlic, crushed

  1. Snap off tough ends of asparagus.

  2. Remove scales from stalks with knife or vegetable peeler, if desired.

  3. Place spears in a steaming rack over boiling water.

  4. Cover and steam 4 to 5 minutes or until spears are crisp tender.

  5. Transfer to a serving platter.

  6. Saute pine nuts in a small skillet over medium heat 2-3 minutes, until browned. Set aside.

  7. Combine olive oil and remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan.

  8. Stir with a wire whisk to blend.

  9. Cook over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until thoroughly heated, stirring constantly.

  10. Pour over asparagus.

  11. Sprinkle with pine nuts.

  12. Let stand to room temperature before serving.
